Karen Rogers is principal and founder of Cascadia Communication. As a vice president in Corporate Communications at Washington Mutual (a Fortune 100 company), Karen specialized in executive communications, including content development for C-level executive presentations and speeches, as well as executive blogging. Karen also worked at Washington Mutual as a senior business strategy analyst for strategic communications and as a senior marketing specialist. As director of Washington Mutual’s Corporate Communications creative team, Karen managed the graphic design, web site, video and presentation functions for all internal communications. Her work was recognized with the company’s ACE award (Award for Corporate Excellence). Prior to her work at Washington Mutual, Karen worked as a communicator in several non-profit organizations. Karen is a graduate of the University of Michigan where she earned a bachelor of arts with double majors in communication and French, and a bachelor of fine arts cum laude with an emphasis on photography. She is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators.
Lauren Moughon is a communication and public affairs veteran with more than 15 years of experience in message development, thought leadership, media relations, speechwriting and government relations. As a senior communications manager and executive speechwriter at Washington Mutual, Lauren developed message content and speeches for C-level executives and worked on both investor and customer communications. For five years as advocacy director for AARP Washington, she acted as the chief lobbyist and a public affairs spokesperson for the state’s largest consumer membership organization. Her prior work includes directing communications for a U.S. Senate campaign, producing a public affairs television program, and leading government relations for several non-profit organizations. Lauren earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from Willamette University and also completed two years of graduate study in the sociology of religion at the Iliff School of Theology.
